Jaclyn Walsh and Terk Waters
Jaclyn and Terk, principal dancers at KEIGWIN + CO and Complexions Contemporary Ballet, respectively, and members of DANJ’s regular weekly teaching faculty, are collaborating to offer a unique experience for dancers interested in contemporary and modern partnering technique.

Partnering in Contemporary Dance
Understand the qualities of being good partners — communication skills with one and multiple partners, responsibility towards others, thorough awareness, focus on tasks, enabling trust, risk taking, and timing. The curriculum includes spatial interweaving, weight sharing (taking and giving), lifts and falls based on leaning against, and leaning away from, each other, opposition / pushing & following, skin and muscle contact, preparing for lifts or falls, and full lifting.
