  • Faculty Bios
    Alison Ingelstrom

    Alison Ingelstrom is an Idaho native. She received her BFA in Dance Performance from the accredited Chapman University in Orange, California. Since moving to New York, Alison has worked with choreographers such as Sonya Tayeh, Ryan Heffington, Warren Carlyle, Ashley Wallen, and Marguerite Derricks. Most recently, Alison was one of the associate choreographers and dancers for the Hulu series Up Here. Some of her other tv/film credits include, Imaginary Friends (Paramount), Tick, Tick… BOOM! (Netflix), Blue’s Big City Adventure (Paramount Plus), The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (Amazon), The Macy’s Day Parade and Good Morning America.

    Some of her commercial and brand credits include Neiman Marcus, Desigual, YSL, Mass Mutual, Gap, Macy’s, and Wella. She also performed on the world tour of Hugh Jackman: The Man, The Music, The Show as well as the Broadway lab of Moulin Rouge and Off-Broadway shows such as Seeing You and Cleopatra. Alison has a passion for teaching and choreographing and has traveled to studios throughout the US for over 10 years. She is thrilled to join the BDC faculty for this year's Summer Intensive.


    Aspen Waddell

    Aspen Waddell, an Arizona native, currently resides in New York City where she is on faculty at Broadway Dance Center and Joffrey Ballet School. She has worked with renowned choreographers such as Marguerite Derricks, Tabitha and Napoleon D'umo, Nick Kenkel, Brooke Wendle, Josh Assor, and Karla Puno Garcia. Aspen’s credits include The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Good Morning America, Gwen Stefani, L’Oréal Paris, New York Fashion Week, Cadillac, Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, LG Electronics, Neiman Marcus, and many more. She made her professional choreography debut at Manhattan Movement & Arts Center, with work performed by the Joffrey Ballet School.

    Passionate about dance education, Aspen is dedicated to inspiring dancers of all ages. She encourages her students to work hard while enjoying the process. Her high-energy, motivating approach leaves dancers feeling even more confident than when they arrived. Above all, she strives to bring out the best in every student, ensuring they leave feeling inspired and proud of what they accomplished.


    Calli Chafin

    Calli Chafin began her training in the Chicagoland area where she also performed with the Joffrey Ballet Chicago and Indiana Youth Ballet. After traveling the country with NRG Dance Project she landed in NYC where she has danced on Nickelodeon, performed in the sold out Prudential Center (EEP!), and had her hand in many other shows, productions, and events! She also assists Broadway Dance Center and Steps faculty weekly. Calli finds so much joy running all over the city teaching the youth of Manhattan! She’s recently had the opportunity to expand her horizons, judging and teaching with Artistic Dance Exchange.


    Catie Leasca

    Catie Leasca is a dance artist currently based in Brooklyn, NY. With roots in Massachusetts, she has traveled and danced abroad in Israel, France, Belgium, and Germany. Catie has worked professionally with Netta Yerushalmy, Helen Simoneau Danse, Jessie Young, Ambika Raina, MG+Artists, She Me Zoo and Bryn Cohn + Artists. Catie has been awarded choreographic residencies at Gibney Dance through Work Up 5.0, New Dance Alliance through LiftOff and was a 2019 Space Grant Recipient, as well as an Upstart artist at Brooklyn Arts Exchange. She has shown her work at Movement Research through Judson Church, FAILSPACE at The Woods, Center for Performance Research, Dixon Place, Triskelion Arts, WIP IV at STUDIO4, CreateART/Dance in Bushwick, and Salt Dance Fest, among others. She has performed at theaters such as Suzanne Dellal Centre in Tel Aviv, The Joyce Theater in NYC, The Montalban in Los Angeles and has participated as a dancer in residencies at The Yard (Martha's Vineyard), MANCC (Florida State University), LMCC (Governor's Island and Maiden Lane), New York City Center, NYU Center for Ballet, and Gallim Dance. Catie has taught in NYC at Gibney Dance, Bridge for Dance, Joffrey Ballet School, Joffrey SPECTRUM, Dance Device Lab, Boston Contemporary Dance Project, FAILSPACE, PMT House of Dance, Z Artist Group, Koin+Co, as well as MG+Artists. She has assisted and co-taught for choreographer Netta Yerushalmy at Princeton University. Most recently, Catie received the Masterworks Foundation Choreography Award and was a dancer in Janessa Clark's newest work, COMMUNION, a 2021 Bessie nominated work, which has been shown at American Dance Festival, Bates Dance Festival, Here Arts Center, as well as in Stockholm and Berlin. Catie's writing can be found in Dancegeist Magazine.

    Catie graduated with her B.F.A. in Dance from The University of the Arts, under the direction of Donna Faye Burchfield. She received the Dean’s Award for Excellence and the School of Dance Sustainability award upon graduation. Catie studied intensely under Katie Swords and Jesse Zaritt, among many other incredible mentors.

    Catie currently teaches a weekly open class in NYC at Peridance Center and is on guest faculty at Sarah Lawrence College and the Joffrey Ballet School.


    Elisabetta Spuria

    Elisabetta Spuria started her professional career as a dancer and choreographer, working as associate choreographer and assistant director for artists such as Mariah Carey and Michael Bolton. Elisabetta was assistant choreographer, dance captain and performer in theater productions including “Footloose”, “Nights on Broadway III”, “Carmen”, “Candide” and “Aida.” She assisted directors and choreographers AC Ciulla, Michele Assaf, Josh Bergasse, and Terry Beeman; choreographed regional productions of “SPRING AWAKENING,” “HEDWIG and the Angry Inch,” “HAIR,” “CHICAGO,” “The Who’s TOMMY,” and “TESS A New Rock Opera.” Elisabetta was nominated for an NYIT award for her work in “disOriented” and has been a guest teacher at Broadway Dance Center and Steps on Broadway in NYC.


    Jōvan Dansberry

    Jōvan Dansberry is a St.Louis native who received his Bachelor of Arts from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, CA. Based now in New York City, Jōvan is a director, choreographer, and performer whose work spans the worlds of theatre, television, and live performance. His aesthetic is primarily informed by his passion for telling stories through movement, an admiration for innovative production design, and a deep respect for the performing arts.

    His Broadway and national touring credits include Bob Fosse’s Dancin, Wicked, MJ the Musical, and King Kong. Other New York Theater credits include eight seasons with The Metropolitan Opera and productions with both Roundabout Theater Company and New York City Center Encores! TV/Live Performance: “SNL!”, “The Tonight Show” with Jimmy Fallon, The Tony Awards, “POSE”, Hulu’s “Up Here.” Other recent collaborations include Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil at the Goodman Theatre, The Preacher’s Wife at the Alliance Theatre, and Porgy and Bess at The Metropolitan Opera.

    In addition to movement direction and choreography, Jōvan is a professor in the Department of Performing Arts at Rider University and is currently the Vice-Chair on the Associate Board of Classic Stage Company in New York City. Jōvan strives to make sure that his work reflects his dedication to storytelling, his deep love and appreciation for movement, and his commitment to nurture the next generation of performing artists.

    Manny Herrera grew up dancing in his parent’s dance studio. He was selected to train at The School of American Ballet at the age of 15 and received the Rudolf Nureyev Foundation Scholarship. His Broadway credits include Bob Fosse’s "Dancin," “West Side Story”, “Legally Blonde” originating the role of the Pool Boy, “Sweet Charity”, “Wicked” where he originated the role of Chistery, and “The Music Man” playing Tommy Djilas. His Off-Broadway credits include, "Miss Abigail’s Guide to Dating Mating and Marriage" starring opposite Eve Plumb (“The Brady Bunch’s” Jan Brady), and "The Seven" at New York Theater Workshop. His TV/Film credits include CBS’ “Blue Bloods”, “Late Night With Steven Colbert” “Winter’s Tale”, “Knucklehead”, “Sex and The City 2”, “Power”, “Unforgettable”, “Smash”, and “Modern Love.” Manny was featured in the independent film “MA and was seen on Bravo’s “Odd Mom Out”. He was on PBS' "Sinatra The Voice of a Century" and in "Bull Durham The Musical” originating the role of Jose.


    Nate Poole

    Nate Poole is a professional dancer, choreographer, and teacher from Minneapolis, Minnesota. His early training at the accomplished Larkin Dance Studio in Minneapolis included many styles of dance. Nate went on to work at a number of conventions and quickly made a name for himself as a was chosen as a Monsters of Hip Hop show finalist and performed in the 2011 Monster's Showcase in Los Angeles under the direction of Chonique Sneed and Lisette Bustamante; contributing choreographers included Marty Kudelka, Kevin Maher, Nick Demoura, Jaquel Knight, Tucker Barkley, Luam, and Luther Brown. The Monsters Show was a catalyst for Nate to go on to work professionally in many different realms of the industry such as live performances with Selena Gomez on the AMAS, music videos such as Jason Derulo's "Otherside,” and television such as ABC's Dancing with the Stars and FOX's GLEE. Along with working in the industry, Nate has a genuine passion for teaching and choreographing, setting work and instructing all over the U.S., Canada, and Europe. Currently, Nate is on faculty with Monsters A-List Convention and the emcee for Monsters of Hip Hop. Nate prides himself in being not only a versatile dancer, but a versatile human, who is constantly learning and growing as an artist. He strives to bring his knowledge, creativity, and passion to students around the world.


    Caitlin Marks

    Olivia Alboher secured her first Broadway credit at the age of 10 in Billy Elliot the Musical. Soon after that she was featured in Al Blackstone's “Happy We’ll Be” at the Roseland Ballroom, and appeared on Oxygen Networks "The Next Big Thing". Olivia has appeared in various TV commercials and industrials and is also a featured model for Jo+Jax and Capezio Dancewear. She was one of the original Protege's at Stacey Tookey's mentorship program. She has been awarded scholarships at conventions including JUMP, NUVO, 24 Seven, NYCDA and RADIX. Olivia is a Beat Squad member and has performed at Joe Lanteri's “Destiny Rising” at the Joyce Theater. Olivia is a four time American Dance Awards national champion. Olivia was one of the top 10 on season 18 of SYTYCD!

    Ricardo Zayas

    Ricardo Zayas originally hails from Brooklyn, NY. He graduated with honors from Fordham University and was invited to join Alvin Ailey II. Mr. Zayas continued to expand his body of work performing with Shen Wei Dance Arts and for Alonzo King at LINES Ballet where he toured extensively throughout the world. He has also performed with the Metropolitan Opera of New York & the Pyer Moss show for Paris Couture Fashion Week.

    A testament to his incredible talent and magnetism, he was named “25 to Watch” by Dance Magazine. Mr. Zayas possesses incredible versatility and most recently has performed with several Broadway Touring shows; Evita, Chess, Motown and is currently on tour with Moulin Rouge! the Musical. He was also a cast member of Head Over Heels and Hamilton on Broadway. His television credits include, Saturday Night Live, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Halston and Hawkeye. Mr. Zayas made his film debut in Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story where he played a member of the Sharks.


    Suzy Fischbach

    Suzy Fischbach is the Artistic Director at Essex Dance Academy. She has been choreographing and teaching contemporary and jazz for eight years and is managing the creative vision of the company. . She has performed in many events including, The Ace Awards, Sybarite, and Peridance Faculty Show. She has had pieces selected to perform in many events including AIM Invitational, Dancin’ Downtown at the Joyce, and many more. Working with dancers is what Suzy loves to do, but above all, her primary goal is helping them develop into artists!


    Tyler Hanes

    Tyler Hanes is best known for his work on the Broadway stage. He has appeared in 10 Broadway shows including A Chorus Line, On The Town, Hairspray, Sweet Charity, The Boy From Oz, and as Rum Tum Tugger in the recent revival of Cats (Chita Rivera nomination for Outstanding Male Dancer in a Broadway Show). Off-Broadway, he starred in Stephen Sondheim’s A Bed and A Chair: A New York Love Affair, Only Gold, Juno, American Dance Machine for the 21st Century and toured nationally with the first national tour of Fosse. Some regional credits include The Old Globe, The Kennedy Center, Hartford Stage, Barrington Stage, Signature Theatre, Paper Mill, and MSMT. Onscreen, he has appeared on FBI, Pose, The Good Fight, Elementary, the Coen Brothers’ Hail, Caesar!, The Blacklist, 30 Rock, Ms. Guidance, and as Jerry Orbach in the Emmy Award winning Fosse/Verdon on FX. As a choreographer, some credits include Kristin Chenoweth: For The Girls on Broadway, Dancing with the Stars, Kristin Chenoweth’s Some Lessons Learned World Tour, Kristin Chenoweth: Coming Home for PBS, Damn Yankees at the Marriott Theatre (Jeff nomination for Best Choreography), and the Latin American premiere of El Chico De Oz in Lima, Peru. www.tylerhanes.net
